Imagine this: The beautiful Bot River estuary, a panorama of mountains in the background, miles of pristine beach. All combining to create a serene peaceful retreat … a place where nature truly comes alive. While taking photos, the birds were hopping between branches and chirping as if to enquire what we are doing. There’s was something so delightful about that moment where nature seemed to interact with us.
We were greeted by a charming entertainment deck nestled under a Milkwood tree. Immediately we imagined relaxed get-togethers with family and friends. This is a perfect space where you can add your personal touch. You could incorporate comfortable seating, like hammocks or low wooden benches, soft lighting such as lanterns or fairy lights, and colorful throw cushions and potplants to make it feel more personalized.
To enhance the natural beauty of the Milkwood tree, consider adding some hanging planters or a rustic wooden table for shared meals.
The speckled shade and charm of the tree offer a natural, serene environment, while the braai pit brings in that unmistakable South African vibe. You can almost hear the boerewors sizzling and picture the sound of a guitar softly playing in the background—pure bliss!
And pairing that with a glass of wine from one of Hermanus' renowned wine estates would take it to another level. The fusion of the forest ambiance with the warmth of the wood is so soothing, making it feel like the ultimate spot to unwind and enjoy life’s simple pleasures.
The seamless flow from deck into cabin though a slider door creates a perfect indoor-outdoor connection. We are welcomed by a light, modern minimalist ambience. Beautiful, contemporary finishes and large slider windows with modern roll blinds make the most of the natural light, creating a clean, stylish look. The roll blinds are such a smart addition. They give you the flexibility to control the amount of sunlight filtering in, keeping the space bright and airy when you want it, but also providing shade or privacy when needed.
Even Jamie will love this kitchen! Lots of counter and storage space offers functionality and at the same time keeps things organised. A large pantry/storage cupboard is a practical and convenient feature to store dry goods, kitchen essentials, and even extra appliances - and helps keep the prep areas neat and clutter-free.
A flexible recreation area off the open-plan kitchen is a social space, especially with the main lounge being upstairs. It makes perfect sense for it to serve as a dining and chat zone—a comfortable area where people can gather around for meals, or just hang out, chat and relax.
A shower bathroom and the bedroom give just the right amount of comfort and practicality. The bedroom has a TV connection and is a cozy retreat, perfect for unwinding after a day of enjoying the outdoors. A slider door off this bedroom opens up even more possibilities for creating a private, serene outside space. A secluded coffee nook or relaxing area right off the bedroom would be ideal for enjoying quiet mornings or soulful evenings. You could even add a little outdoor seating or a small garden to enhance the peaceful vibe, giving the room its own private escape.
There are new architectural guidelines being approved which will allow for extension of your cabin. In this instance, instead of an outdoor space, one could build a “chill space” off the bedroom, making it the perfect all-weather escape.
Upstairs. TV lounging area merges into the outdoor deck shaded by trees. This creates a wonderful feeling of living with nature - blending indoor living with the beauty of the outdoors – like living in a tree house! Two additional bedrooms with great morning light sets a positive, energizing tone for the day. The shower bathroom adds practicality and convenience.
At the side of the cabin is a 6 metre storage unit which can be enlarged to be 2.1 metres high with a walk in door.
The estate has a pool, a clubhouse and a superette that’s open on the weekends. Beautiful walks by the river, picnic on the beach, soak up the panoramic views.
